Einstein's Twin Paradox...

So I've been thinking about trying to post something about the nature of time on this blog and what could be better than something pertaining to Einstein's famous twin paradox. In The Sweet and Bitter Taste of Moonshine, Peyton and Ambrose discuss ideas about the perception of time as we age and in so doing briefly touch upon Einstein's twin paradox. While neither character is blasting off at close to the speed of light in the novel, time and our perception of it is a central theme. Many readers might wonder, what is the twin paradox? While difficult to quickly explain here, the maxim that a "fast clock runs slow" is at the heart of this elegant and beautiful theory on the nature of time and not only how we perceive it, but how it actually is...relatively speaking of course. I found a wonderful video on Youtube (see below) by a Dr. PhysicsA that I thought was worth posting here. It explains a complicated theory beautifully. Give 30 minutes of your day to this...it will seem like just a few minutes!! And many thanks to Dr. PhysicsA for helping me to understand relativity just a little bit more!
